Golzern’s DNA originating from the 'German Mittelstand’ can also be seen on the capital markets investment side with a high share of direct investments in European Small and Mid Caps.

We invest in global equities and bonds with a core/satellite strategy. On the core side we implement a passive strategy next to working with selected partners. On the more inefficient parts of the market our dedicated direct investment team manages a portfolio of European small and mid cap stocks. We apply a fundamental-based bottom-up approach, doing our own due diligence and modelling, where we focus on the long-term prospects of the companies. We aim for long-term investments and low turnover. The portfolio approach mixes growth and value investments.

Valerie Schüler is responsible for the liquid asset investments at Golzern Holding. With over 18 years of capital market experience—including more than 16 years at DWS Investments—she is widely recognized for her strategic insight and rigorous analytical discipline. At DWS, Valerie played a key role in the European Small and Mid Cap team managing the DWS European Opportunities, and she exclusively led the DWS German Small/Mid Cap Fund and the New Germany Fund for several years. Known for her reflective approach and steady hand, she remains unfazed by short-lived market trends, consistently maintaining a clear, forward-looking perspective that anticipates potential developments and drives sustainable investment strategies.
